Bill Skarsgård Gearing Up for “Very Different Experience” with ‘IT: Chapter 2’

Last time, he terrorized kids. This time, the prey is all grown up.

Filming is set to begin next month on Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter 2, which will see Bill Skarsgård once again play the role of killer clown Pennywise. The actor’s job is quite a bit different this time, and he spoke a bit about that in a new chat with Den of Geek.

I’m really looking forward to it,” Skarsgård told the site. “It’s going to be a very different experience this time around, just given the fact that you have all of these incredible, seasoned actors to play against, as opposed to having all the kids. So it’s going to be a different experience for sure. But I’m looking forward to it.”

He continued, “We’re gearing up for it now, so I’m sort of in the process of getting back into that character of Pennywise. I have a very good relationship with Andy, not only as a director and actor, but also just as a very close friend, so we’re having fun with it and we’re figuring out what we’re going to bring to the table for part two.”

The sequel’s cast includes Jessica Chastain as Beverly, Bill Hader as Richie, James McAvoy as Bill, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley and Jay Ryan as Ben.

Next year’s movie takes place 27 years after the first installment, with flashbacks to the ’80s. As adults, the Losers’ Club will resume their battle with the evil Pennywise.

Gary Dauberman wrote the script.

The sequel will arrive in theaters on September 6, 2019.
