Is ‘The Children’ Part of the ‘Conjuring’ Universe?

Hiding within an article over at Variety, it’s suggested that Atomic Monster’s tentatively-titled The Children is a Conjuring movie. While we can’t confirm that it’s an actual Conjuring film, we were being told that it takes place in the same Universe. However, a PR rep for New Line Cinema is telling me that it is NOT part of the Universe nor is it a Conjuring film. Maybe there’s a fun Easter egg? Whatever the case, this movie sounds awesome.

Also, the title The Children isn’t set in stone and various social posts suggest the title could become La Llorona. We’ll update accordingly.

Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen is the lead in the New Line horror film directed by Michael Chaves. Youngster Roman Christou was also cast in the film follows a social worker investigating the disappearance of two children and soon learns her own family may too be in danger.

Raymond Cruz of “Breaking Bad” fame will play Catholic priest turned shaman alongside a cast that also includes Linda Cardellini, Sean Patrick Thomas and Patricia Velasquez.

Bloody Disgusting shared the world exclusive online premiere of Chaves‘ short film “The Maiden”. It was a monster success among our readers and created quite the buzz in the industry.

James Wan, Emile Gladstone and Gary Dauberman produced The Children, with Michael Clear executive producing. The film was written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis.

Updated to reflect New Line’s comment on the Variety article.
