Fede Alvarez Promises He’ll Direct ‘Evil Dead 2’ If Uruguay Wins the World Cup
All of a sudden I care about the 2018 World Cup… a lot.
With “Ash vs. Evil Dead” officially canceled by Starz, and Bruce Campbell having retired Ash, our biggest hope is that Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert make another film. Campbell has not only given his blessing to sally forth without him, but he’s also teasing upcoming incarnations. What does that mean exactly? Who knows, but what I do know is that at one point they had planned to crossover the Fede Alvarez-directed “reboot” with the original trilogy. Ash and Mia (Jane Levy) side by side would have been wondrous, but at this point, we’ll be fortunate to see Mia’s character fully realized. Who knows what they’re planning behind closed doors, but what if we could get a sequel to Alvarez’s Evil Dead?
Who would have thought the World Cup could hold the future of the franchise in its hands? Alvarez is rooting for Uruguay and has made a deal with a fan on Twitter: if Uruguay wins the Cup, he’ll return to direct Evil Dead 2. So, I guess I’m rooting for Uruguay?
Also, a deal made on Twitter is legally binding, right?
