The biggest fan of George Romero’s zombie films that I know is a man by the name of Lawrence DeVincentz, who knows Romero’s work like the back of his hand. DeVincentz is an integral part of the twice-annual Living Dead Weekend events, most recently serving as the tour guide for a trip through the filming locations seen in Romero’s Dawn of the Dead.
DeVincentz also runs the Day of the Dead blog Dr. Logan’s Chop Shop, where he’s just shared a fun series of photo that show the locales as they appear today, over 30 years later.
As he explains, “This is my Day of the Dead series of photos and shots that I recreated at the films various locations, with a few other cool photos of fun thrown in. My photos come from a 2012 and a 2013 visit to the Fort Myers, FL and Sanibel Island, FL locations. And a visit to see the original Day of the Dead helicopter in 2013. It had been refurbished, but like a car it has a VIN number or Serial number and you can’t change that; it makes it easy to track though. I hope you enjoy these.”
