Colin Trevorrow Hints at the Return of More ‘Jurassic Park’ Characters in ‘Jurassic World 3’

The just-released Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom marks the (brief but important) franchise return of Jeff Goldblum and his Dr. Ian Malcolm, to date the only main character from the original trilogy to arrive on the scene in the Jurassic World trilogy. So then, will we be seeing the returns of Sam Neill‘s Alan Grant and/or Laura Dern‘s Ellie Sattler in the next one?

Maybe? Probably?

Both actors/characters have been mildly kinda/sorta teased for eventual returns, and another tease comes this week courtesy of Colin Trevorrow, who is directing Jurassic World 3. Speaking with MTV’s Seen It, Spill It, Trevorrow touched upon the reasons behind characters like Alan and Ellie being left out of Fallen Kingdom, while all but promising they’re coming soon.

We felt like this was [Ian] Malcolm’s return… this was his… let him have his moment,” Trevorrow noted. “I feel that way about everyone, especially Laura… she never got to have her own movie. That identified as being something that’s important. We just wanted to put the spotlight on [Goldblum, for this one].”

In response, the interviewer asked specifically about Grant and/or Sattler getting similar spotlights in the third film, suggesting that audiences would probably feel robbed if they didn’t get to see them by the end of the final film in the trilogy.

Trevorrow responded, “I totally agree with that. I would feel robbed too.”

Hint hint.
