James McAvoy Shares a Handful of Set Photos from ‘IT: Chapter 2’
Production has begun on Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter 2, so you might want to start paying attention to the social media accounts of the stars. Just today, James McAvoy, who plays Bill Denbrough in the sequel, shared a collection of behind the scenes photos on Instagram, showing him on set with fellow stars Isaiah Mustafa, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain and even a couple of the kids from the first film, Jaeden Lieberher and Jack Dylan Grazer! Yes, the kids will be returning in new scenes that’ll flashback to their youth in the ’80s.
Chastain also shared a fun photo that blends her face with that of Sophia Lillis, who of course played the young version of the character she’s playing in next year’s film, Beverly Marsh.
The cast includes Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, Bill Hader as Richie, James McAvoy as Bill, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike and Jay Ryan as Ben. Xavier Dolan is Adrian Mellon and Will Beinbrink is Tom Rogan. Teach Grant is Henry Bowers, with Jess Weixler as Bill’s wife. Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
Next year’s movie takes place 27 years after the first installment, with flashbacks to the ’80s. As adults, the Losers’ Club will resume their battle with the evil Pennywise.
The sequel, penned by Gary Dauberman, will arrive in theaters on September 6, 2019.
In addition to Leigh Whannell’s upcoming Universal Monsters movie Wolf Man, Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel) has also joined the cast of Weapons, THR has announced tonight.
Weapons is the new horror movie from New Line Cinema and director Zach Cregger (Barbarian), with Julia Garner joining the previously announced Josh Brolin (Dune 2).
The upcoming Weapons is from writer/director Zach Cregger, who will also produce alongside his Barbarian producing team: Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.
The Hollywood Reporter teases, “Plot details for Weapons are being kept holstered but it is described as a multi and inter-related story horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.”
Cregger was a founding member and writer for the New York comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’Know,” which he started while attending The School of Visual Arts. The award-winning group’s self-titled sketch comedy show ran for five seasons on IFC-TV and Fuse. He was also a series regular on Jimmy Fallon’s NBC series “Guys with Kids” and the TBS hit series “Wrecked,” and was featured in a recurring role on the NBC series “About a Boy.”
Weapons will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
