Even serial killers live next door to somebody.
While Turbo Kid was set in an alternate apocalyptic 1997, the filmmaking collective of François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell are rewinding a little further back in time for their Summer of ’84 (read our review), which aims to hit that nostalgic sweet spot.

In the film, set in, well, the summer of 1984…
“The perfect time to be 15 years old and free. But when neighborhood conspiracy theorist Davey Armstrong begins to suspect his police officer neighbor might be the serial killer all over the local news, he and his three best friends begin an investigation that soon turns dangerous.”
“Mad Men’s” Rich Sommer and “Riverdale’s” Tiera Skovbye star in the film, alongside Graham Verchere, Judah Lewis, Caleb Emery, and Cory Gruter-Andrew.
Summer of ’84 arrives in Select Theaters starting August 10.
