Before directing Warm Bodies, Jonathan Levine‘s indie All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was primed for a huge theatrical run, at least until The Weinstein Company came along and ruined everything.
Budgeted at $600,000, the film was a smash hit out of the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival where TWC won an all-night bidding war to acquire the film for a whopping $3.5 million and committing to 800 screens. It would sit on the shelf for years before finally getting released in 2013.
While it’s available on VOD and Blu-ray, the Snoot (The Guest, Blindspotting, You’re Next, The Devil’s Candy) production has just been added to Netflix for those who have yet to see this indie darling.
