Artist’s Posters for the ‘Suspiria’ Remake Pay Tribute to the Original Film’s ’70s Posters

Fans have been having a whole lot of fun with Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming remake of Suspiria, with one fan adding Goblin’s iconic score to the trailer. Another fan has taken it upon himself to whip up six posters for the remake, inspired by the original film’s classic art.

Over on Behance, artist Surya Shékhar shares his ’70s style poster designs for the remake, each one inspired by a specific poster for Dario Argento’s Suspiria from the 1970s.

Shekhar explains, “The graphic designer in me was overwhelmed to see the quality of the poster arts for the original. I observed each with the utmost attention to detail. It was then slowly I planned to make posters for the 2018 remake, inspired from the original 1977 film’s posters. So to make a vintage poster specifically from the 70s, I needed to know about the graphic design style of that decade.

The artist continues, “One of the striking features of the ’77 Suspiria’s posters was the various typefaces they used for the movie title. So to make posters for the new movie, I decided to use my favourite typefaces from the old film, among its other elements.”
