Empire shared a brand new look at The Predator, with a bit from director Shane Black about making the character scary again, explaining that the introduction of the Ultimate/Super-Predator was because of the challenge to “make it frightening” [again].
“’Cause upon that hinged everything — whether you bought our heroes going up against him and felt a real threat for them,” he told the site. “We had to invent a scenario in which the Predators were mysterious and scary again.”
There’s been a ton of tinkering just to hit the sweet spot, with new reports revealing massive changes to the film’s third act (beware of spoilers).

In the film,
“From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”
Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Edward James Olmos, Alfie Allen and Yvonne Strahovski star.
Jake Busey plays the son of Gary Busey’s Predator 2 character.
The Predator returns on September 14, 2018.
