Babadook Disappointing

Australian filmmaker Jennifer Kent made quite a debut on the scene with The Babadook, which instantly established Kent as a voice to pay attention to. She follows up the 2014 horror hit this year with The Nightingale, Kent’s second feature film that’s set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this summer.

Along with that news comes the very first image from The Nightingale, showing off blood-covered star Aisling Franciosi. Check it out below, along with everything we know.

“Set in Tasmania in 1825, The Nightingale follows a 21-year-old Irish female convict who witnesses the brutal murder of her husband and baby by her soldier master and his cronies. Unable to find justice, she takes an Aboriginal male tracker with her through the hellish wilderness to seek revenge on the men.”

The cast also includes Sam Claflin, Damon HerrimanEwen Leslie, Harry Greenwood, Baykali Ganambarr and Magnolia Maymuru.

Kent both wrote the script and directed.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
