Later this year, iconic Spider-Man villain Venom gets his own spinoff solo movie, not part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, and Collider reports this morning that Kraven the Hunter will also soon be getting his own feature. The site tells us that Richard Wenk (The Equalizer 2) has been brought on to write the solo film for Sony Pictures.
Collider details the character…
“Also known as Sergei Kravinoff, Kraven the Hunter is one of Spider-Man’s best known and most formidable enemies, as well as the half-brother of the Chameleon. The character has appeared in numerous Spider-Man properties including animated series, video games and of course, the Marvel comics, including the popular story Kraven’s Last Hunt. Kraven is known for hunting big game, but what is Kraven without his white whale Spider-Man, who he considers his ultimate trophy? That’s what Wenk will be tasked with figuring out.”
Like Venom, the film will exist outside of Marvel’s universe, which likely means that Spidey himself won’t be part of it. This will be the first time Kraven has appeared in live action.
