New Looks at ‘Alita: Battle Angel’, ‘House with a Clock in Its Walls’, ‘Peppermint’ and ‘Hold the Dark’

EW‘s fall movie preview included several new shots from a handful of upcoming genre pics, beginning with Murder PartyBlue Ruin and Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier‘s Hold the Dark, which streams on Netflix September 28th.

The film stars Jeffrey Wright as wolf expert Russell Core who ventures to the Alaskan village of Keelut when three children go missing – assumed to be the work of lupine activity.”

Alexander Skarsgård and Beckham Crawford also star.

Also revealed, a new shot from Eli Roth‘s (Cabin Fever, Hostel, Green Inferno) PG-rated Amblin kids horror movie The House With a Clock in Its Walls, which Universal Pictures will release on September 21, 2018.

In the film, “The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle (Jack Black) in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.”  Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett also stars.

Pierre Morel‘s action-thriller Peppermint features an angry Jennifer Garner on a vicious revenge campaign that’s likened to John Wick.

“Peppermint tells the story of young mother Riley North (Garner) who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI- as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.

In theaters September 7th, 2018, the film also stars John Ortiz, John Gallagher Jr., and Juan Pablo Raba.

Lastly, here’s a clean look at the star of Robert Rodriguez‘s sci-fi thriller Alita: Battle Angel, a feature film based on the Japanese manga series “Gunnm” by Yukito Kishiro releasing this holiday season on December 21.

Set in the 26th century… “Alita tells of a female cyborg that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals. The action-adventure story is meant to serve as a backdrop to themes of self-discovery and the search for love.”

The cast includes Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson.
