Netflix Is Developing a Sequel to Adam Wingard’s ‘Death Note’

Released almost exactly one year ago, Adam Wingard’s adaptation of the Japanese manga Death Note may not have been a huge hit with critics, but it seems it was successful enough for Netflix that they’re eager for a sequel. Nestled inside an article on THR today was the reveal that Death Note 2 is being actively developed by the streaming service.

Greg Russo is writing the script. More as we learn it.

Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.”
