Luca Guadagnino Comments On the Potential for a New “Three Mothers” Trilogy

Three mothers… Mother Tenebrarum, Mother Lachrymarum and Mother Suspiriorum.

Dario Argento’s Suspiria, Inferno and The Mother of Tears collectively make up the Italian horror master’s “Three Mothers Trilogy, a connected tale of horror stories centered on three powerful witches. As suggested in the most recent trailer, Luca Guadagnino is already delving into that mythology with his Suspiria, but does that mean he’s setting up a rebooted “Three Mothers” trilogy? Speaking with THR, Guadagnino seemed at least open to the idea.

Well, haha, that’s a good one,” Guadagnino responded to the site, when they asked if a new trilogy was in the cards. “I don’t know, it depends. There are many things that we left out. And if everybody would be happy to join back in the movie, I don’t know. Let’s see how it goes. Let’s start from this, and then we’ll see.”

Of course, everything depends on how well Suspiria does at the box office this November, so let’s hold that thought for now. The remake of the ’77 classic arrives on November 2.
