New Look at ‘The Shed’, From the Producers of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Hatchet’
Frank Sabatella, director of Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet, is back with The Shed.
Starring Frank Whaley (Vacancy), Cody Kostro (Worst Friends), Sofia Happonen (Women of a Certain Age), Timothy Bottoms (Parasomnia, Last Picture Show), and Jay Jay Warren (“Bosch”), the film is a Bigger Boat production, the company behind Frozen, Saw VI-Jigsaw, and the forthcoming Pumpkinhead remake. Peter Block and Cory Neal (Hatchet) produce.
Here’s a lengthy synopsis from the sales agent to go along with a new batch of stills:
“As an orphan, living with his abusive Grandfather, life sucks for Stan. But he’s got it better than his best friend Dommer who he regularly has to defend against the school bullies. And now their best friend Roxy, Stan’s secret crush, has fallen in with the cool crowd who harass them daily. But these “monsters” in Stan’s daily world are nothing compared to the monsters of Stan’s nightmare come to life. When Stan finds a murderous creature of the night has taken refuge in his backyard toolshed – and killed his Grandfather – he can’t go to the cops who’ll likely put him in foster care. While Stan tries to battle the demon alone, Dommer thinks it’s the solution to their bully problems, if only they can lure the bullies to the Shed. Will it bond the friends, tear them apart or just get them killed? Sometimes monsters turn regular folks into heroes, and sometimes they just turn them into different monsters.“
The thriller recently wrapped filming in upstate New York and is eyeing a 2019 festival run.
Sunrise Films has announced the official North American release of William Bagley‘s horror comedy Hold the Fort, and it’s accompanied by an energetic new trailer.
Hold the Fort debuts on digital platforms on June 23.
In the film, “Lucas and Jenny think their life is finally coming together when the couple become homeowners. Little do they know that their new house comes with a big catch. Lucas and Jenny soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when they become trapped in a battle between their Homeowners Association and an onslaught of monsters from hell. The horror-comedy takes the timely concern of home-ownership and wraps this up in an entertaining action-packed thrill ride.“

Chris Mayers (Adult Swim Yule Log), Haley Leary (“The Walking Dead”), Levi Burdick, and Julian Smith star.
William Bagley writes and directs, in addition to producing with Smith, Matt Dodd, Luke Williams, and Tim Reis (Adult Swim Yule Log).
Ahead of the release, Bagley said, “My goal with this film was to make a hilarious, fast-paced thrill ride while also telling a great story with heart. Hopefully, through all the blood, laughs, fights, and gags, you leave the film feeling inspired to tackle whatever life throws at you.“
Hold the Fort premiered at Fantasia last summer before going on to play FrightFest London, Toronto After Dark, and Beyond Fest.
I wrote in my review, “It’s an infectiously charming assemblage of jokes and monster vignettes bound together by a barebones plot with not much on its mind beyond delivering an entertaining time.”
