Netflix just landed a film that should have ended up with A24, just to give you some idea what to expect when it’s released in 2019.
Richard Shepard’s Miramax horror-thriller-drama hybrid The Perfection has been acquired by Netflix for all global rights. It was lauded at the Fantastic Fest World Premiere last month in which our very own Trace Thurman raved about it, explaining that it “delivers twisted, shocking and hilarious perfection.“ It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the hottest film you’ve probably never heard of.
Starring Get Out and Girls’ Allison Williams and Dear White People‘s Logan Browning, The Perfection tells the story of two cello prodigies who reunite in Shanghai, and it concludes with in a way that has reportedly left audiences speechless. Steven Weber also stars as the duo’s mentor.
Watch for release news as it comes in, but make sure you keep this one on your radar. Either way, we’ll be all over it for you.
