“Pray for Rosemary’s baby.”
50 years ago, it was one of the most iconic ad campaigns in cinema history: Stephen O. Frankfurt and Phil Gips are the New York admen responsible for the final poster, but also the ad campaign created for Rosemary’s Baby.
It was their first motion picture assignment for the two veteran advertising men, but they would go on to collaborate on more than 150 film campaigns over three decades of motion picture advertising, the press release explained. In discussing the idea behind Rosemary’s Baby’s initial concept, Gips explained, “We set out to create an ad that appealed to the imagination.”
For the 50th Anniversary, Paramount Pictures is using the iconic tagline as a hashtag— #PrayForRosemarysBaby in addition to the URL PrayForRosemarysBaby.com
Rosemary’s Baby is available on Apple iTunes and other digital platforms, or by visiting PrayForRosemarysBaby.com
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the film that birthed a chilling new direction in horror. From Ira Levin’s best-selling novel, Rosemary’s Baby tells the story of a young newlywed couple who are expecting their first child. Like most first-time mothers, Rosemary (Mia Farrow) experiences confusion and fear. Her husband (John Cassavetes), an ambitious but unsuccessful actor, makes a pact with the Devil that promises to send his career skyward. The performances are extraordinary, notably Ruth Gordon’s Oscar-winning performance as an oversolicitous next-door neighbor.
