We learned earlier this week that Andy Muschietti (Mama, IT, IT: Chapter Two) will be directing a live action adaptation of Attack on Titan, but that’s not the only big project on his post-Pennywise slate. It’s now being reported that Muschietti is also going to be helming a new adaptation of H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi novella The Time Machine for WB/Paramount!
Published in 1895, the tale revolves around an inventor who hopes to alter the events of the past and travels 800,000 years into the future, where he finds humankind divided into warring races. The novella has been adapted into feature films twice before, in 1960 and in 2002.
Deadline reports that Andy and his sister Barbara Muschietti wrote the treatment, with Barbara producing. Also producing? Leonardo DiCaprio and Appian Way’s Jennifer Davisson.
