Over on Instagram, Sylvester Stallone just announced that he wrapped filming this week on Rambo V: Last Blood, which Lionsgate has acquired for US and UK distribution.
Stallone says in the video, which you can watch below, “Well that was it, that was my final shot. Rambo 5 Last Blood… at least that’s what they are calling it, thus far. And it’s been an amazing journey, it really has. This character was presented to me in 1980. And no one wanted to do it. As a matter of fact, I was the eleventh choice. People looked at this as almost a cursed project. I looked at it and said this was an amazing opportunity.”
In the fifth installment of the franchise, when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
Sergio Peris-Mencheta (“Snowfall”) will be playing Rambo’s latest adversary. The actor will play the cartel’s brutal leader, Hugo Martinez.
Paz Vega, Adriana Barraza, Oscar Jaenada, Joaquin Cosio and Yvette Monreal will also star.
