Which are here to threaten us and which are here to protect us?
After debuting at Brazil Comic Con, the brand spankin’ new trailer for Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters is here and oh boy is it something special. Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah are on full display in the movie’s second trailer, which suggests some more plot details and poses one hell of a question: will humanity become Godzilla’s pet?
Tiny humans are stuck in the middle of a war between massive Titans in Dougherty’s sequel to the 2014 movie, which looks to be an action-packed, visionary blast of blockbuster entertainment. The trailer ends with Godzilla and the three-headed Ghidorah squaring off, which is surely only the beginning of what promises to be an unforgettable monster fight.
This is going to be one of the best Godzilla movies of all time, yeah? Giving Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) a handful of monsters and a ton of money to play with has clearly proven to be one of the smartest, coolest choices made in Hollywood in recent years.
The sequel takes place five years after the events in the first film…
“When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
Zhang Ziyi, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance and Aisha Hinds star.
Dougherty directed from a script he wrote with Zach Shields.
Godzilla returns on May 31, 2019.
