Emily Blunt Snags Screen Actors Guild Awards Nomination for ‘A Quiet Place’

The nominations for the 2019 SAG Awards were announced this morning, and much like the Golden Globes for next year, John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place was the only horror film represented in the list. Whereas the film scored a Best Original Score nomination for the Globes, Krasinski’s co-star Emily Blunt has been nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role category by the Screen Actors Guild.

Many had expected Hereditary (particularly Toni Collette) to be the most awards-heavy horror film of 2018, but it’s actually looking like A Quiet Place is that film instead.

Emily Blunt is going up against Amy Adams (Vice), Margot Robbie (Mary Queen of Scots), Emma Stone (The Favourite) and Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) in the Supporting category. Incredibly, Blunt is also nominated in the Leading Actress category for Mary Poppins Returns.

The only other SAG nomination for horror was AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has three awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
