Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray to Cameo in the ‘Zombieland’ Sequel? [Rumor]

An unconfirmed report (it’s a slow news day) suggests that Ghostbusters co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray will reunite in Ruben Fleischer‘s soon-to-film Zombieland 2: Double Tap. While the two didn’t share any onscreen time, they both did a cameo for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters back in 2016.

If you recall, Murray played a fictional version of himself in Fleischer’s Zombieland (2009). In the film, stars Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin all trek to Murray’s mansion only to find him disguised as one of the undead. There, they not only watch Ghostbusters, but also act out scenes from the 1984 comedy. Murray was accidentally killed in the first film (watch the scene below), which makes this alleged appearance even more interesting – will there be some sort of flashback or will the pair make an appearance as zombies in need of double-tapping?

In this next installment, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The script is by the original film’s scribes, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, both of whom will also serve as exec producers. Gavin Polone is also returning to produce the film which will begin shooting early next year with a slated October 11, 2019, release date.
