‘A Quiet Place’ Just Won “Best Horror/Sci-Fi Movie” at Last Night’s Critics’ Choice Awards

John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place, which has turned out to be an awards season darling, faced some stiff competition in the “Best Horror/Sci-Fi Movie” category at this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards, being put against Annihilation, Halloween, Hereditary and Suspiria. But the inventive monster movie took home the award last night, beating the competition.

Last year, Jordan Peele’s Get Out was honored with the very same award. Get Out subsequently went on to be nominated for Best Motion Picture, Best Leading Actor and Best Directing at the Academy Awards last year, and it won Best Original Screenplay, so don’t be too surprised if A Quiet Place ends up on the list of nominations for this year’s ceremony.

Nominations for the 91st Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 22nd.

Meanwhile, Krasinski is currently writing A Quiet Place 2

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has three awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
