Most horror fans agree that one of the all time scariest movie characters is Zelda from Mary Lambert’s 1989 adaptation of Pet Sematary, played by Andrew Hubatsek. The sister of Rachel Creed, the emaciated Zelda suffers from spinal meningitis, and her small appearance in the film makes a huge impression. In this year’s re-adaptation, Zelda returns to the big screen.
Young actress Alyssa Brooke Levine has been cast as our new Zelda, which promises that this Zelda will be quite unlike the Zelda (played by an adult man) from the ’89 film. As directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch recently told EW, her appearance in this one is “more accurate to the book,” wherein Zelda was indeed a 10 year old girl.
We’ve seen a couple brief glimpses of Zelda in trailer and TV spots for the new film, but did you spot her hidden on the new poster? She’s there, noted by Widmyer and Kolsch!
