James Cameron Reveals ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ as Film’s Working Title

Published

We still don’t know a whole lot about Paramount Pictures’ next Terminator, which is being directed by Deadpool‘s Tim Miller. What we do know is that, similar to Halloween, it retcons all films not directed by James Cameron. Instead, it follows the events of his Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

In a new interview with Cameron, who returns to produce, he reveals that the working title for the film is Terminator: Dark Fate, and also explains why.

“I tend to be optimistic about people and our capacity to solve problems,” he explained to Yahoo. “When I think of us as empathetic beings, I think we’re going to get through this OK. When I see how people lose their empathy when they get into positions of power, then I lose that hope.”

Set to go back in time on November 1, 2019, the above first-look photo shows Natalia Reyes as “Dani Ramos,” Mackenzie Davis as “Grace”, and Linda Hamilton returning as “Sarah Connor”.

Arnold Schwarzenegger returns as well: “Arnold’s back and he’s bad…” he had previously stated. “He’s a different Terminator than you’ve ever seen before, I mean literally he’s a different chassis number but he’s also a very different guy than you’ve seen before.”

Miller and Cameron found their newest Terminator in Gabriel Luna, who appeared as Ghost Rider in ABC’s superhero series Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

There have been more than a handful of crazy spoilers leaked from set, which you can dig through right here.

Filming is underway on The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man for Universal and Blumhouse, which will be howling its way into theaters on January 17, 2025.

Deadline reports that Matilda Firth (Disenchanted) is the latest actor to sign on, joining Christopher Abbott (Poor Things),  Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), and Sam Jaeger.

The project will mark Whannell’s second monster movie and fourth directing collaboration with Blumhouse Productions (The Invisible Man, Upgrade, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Wolf Man stars Christopher Abbott as a man whose family is being terrorized by a lethal predator.

Writers include Whannell & Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum & Rebecca Angelo.

Jason Blum is producing the film. Ryan Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira, Mel Turner and Whannell are executive producers. Wolf Man is a Blumhouse and Motel Movies production.

In the wake of the failed Dark Universe, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man has been the only real success story for the Universal Monsters brand, which has been struggling with recent box office flops including the comedic Renfield and period horror movie The Last Voyage of the Demeter. Giving him the keys to the castle once more seems like a wise idea, to say the least.
