Oddly enough, James Cameron‘s 1989 sci-fi film The Abyss has to date *still* not been released onto Blu-ray, but it looks like that’s probably about to change. While an official announcement hasn’t yet been made, frequent Cameron collaborator Skip Kimball (Editorial Department, Avatar and Alita) just posted something pretty interesting over on Instagram.
“This is happening on stage one this weekend,” Kimball captioned a photo of The Abyss being color graded in the studio. Kimball’s hashtags include #4K, #HDR and #Remaster.
Again, we have no concrete information at this time, but it seems pretty clear that The Abyss is currently being remastered, presumably for an upcoming home video release.
In the film, which starred Ed Harris, “A civilian diving team is enlisted to search for a lost nuclear submarine and face danger while encountering an alien aquatic species.”
