After grossing over $500 million worldwide last summer, we learned back in October that a sequel to director Jon Turteltaub’s The Meg was already being developed, and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura provides a wee bit of an update to Cinema Blend this week.
“We’re working on a script. So you never know until you get a good script,” he told the site.
Bonaventura continued, “I was very thankful that the audience got that we were just trying to have fun, [and] not take ourselves seriously at all.”
There’s certainly no shortage of sequel potential here, as author Steve Alten has to date penned a handful of novels in his Meg franchise. Plenty to pull from there, to say the least.
