Exclusive ‘The Wind’ Clip Gets Attacked by Wolves [Video]

Published

on

IFC Midnight will be releasing Emma Tammi’s narrative feature film The Wind (our review) in theaters and On Demand on April 5, 2019, and they’ve just shared this exclusive new clip in which a woman finds herself being attacked by a pack of wolves and barricades herself in a cabin.

Hailed by critics as a femme-centric western and supernatural horror, the film stars Caitlin Gerard, Julia Goldani Telles, Ashley Zukerman, Dylan McTee, and Miles Anderson.

“The Wind explores an unseen evil as it haunts the homestead in this chilling, folkloric tale of madness, paranoia, and otherworldly terror.”

“Lizzy (Caitlin Gerard) is a tough, resourceful frontierswoman settling a remote stretch of land on the 19th-century American frontier. Isolated from civilization in a desolate wilderness where the wind never stops howling, she begins to sense a sinister presence that seems to be borne of the land itself, an overwhelming dread that her husband (Ashley Zukerman) dismisses as superstition. When a newlywed couple arrives on a nearby homestead, their presence amplifies Lizzy’s fears, setting into motion a shocking chain of events. Masterfully blending haunting visuals with pulse-pounding sound design, director Emma Tammi evokes a godforsaken world in which the forces of nature come alive with quivering menace.”

‘The Fisherman’ – David Lowery Directing Film Adaptation of John Langan’s Horror Novel

Published

on

Bram Stoker Award-winning novel The Fisherman from John Langan is getting a film adaptation, and David Lowery (The Green Knight, Mother Mary) will direct for Focus Features.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this afternoon.

THR details, “Langan’s novel told the story of Abe and Dan, two widowers who bond together with fishing getaways in upstate New York as way to cope with their grief. One day, however, Dan suggests that pair try a new spot, an isolated and mysterious spot named Dutchman’s Creek, which is whispered to allow a person to see their lost loved ones.

“Even a spooky tale from a man in a diner detailing the terrible history of the creek can’t stop these two men, who eventually find themselves face to face with Der Fisher, aka The Fisherman. They probably should have just stayed home that weekend.”

David Lowery will co-write the film adaptation with Alex Ross Perry. Producers include Michael Bay and Brad Fuller for Platinum Dunes, and Gary Dauberman for Coin Operated.

John Langan’s novel The Fisherman was published back in 2016.

A cover quote from author Laird Barron raves, “The Fisherman is an epic, yet intimate, horror novel. Langan channels M.R. James, Robert E. Howard, and Norman Maclean.”

“What you get is A River Runs Through It… Straight to hell,” the quote continues.
