Ahead of his new film Wounds playing at Cannes, Under the Shadow director Babak Anvari has already set his next project, a suspense thriller titled Departure for Lionsgate.
As reported by Deadline today, the movie is being developed by Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment label, and the script was written by Billy Ray (Captain Phillips).
“The film tells the story of how a series of airplanes mysteriously disappear and reappear while in flight, and a young FAA investigator becomes obsessed with the case. The mystery becomes personal when he finds out that his fiancé is on one of the planes.”
Deadline adds that Anvari will also be working on the screenplay.
