Joe Penna, director of this year’s Mads Mikkelsen-starring Arctic, is next headed to outer space for the sci-fi thriller Stowaway, which recently cast Anna Kendrick and Toni Collette (Hereditary) in the leading roles. As reported by Deadline today, Hellboy star Daniel Dae Kim has also boarded the ship
The cast also includes Shamier Anderson (“Wynonna Earp,” Destroyer).
“The story revolves around a mission headed to Mars, where an unintended stowaway accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist (Dae Kim).”
Penna co-wrote the script with Ryan Morrison.
XYZ Films will produce alongside RISE Pictures and augenschein Filmproduktion.
