Dwayne Johnson Reveals Gruesome Kill Scene Cut from ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ for Being Too Brutal

Lawman Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and outcast Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) come together this August in the Fast & Furious spinoff movie Hobbs & Shaw, which sees the two ass-kickers forming an unlikely alliance when a cyber-genetically enhanced villain (played by Idris Elba) threatens the future of humanity. Because why the hell not, right?!

As he always does, Dwayne Johnson is surely going to kill a whole lot of bad guys in Hobbs & Shaw, but one particularly gruesome kill scene won’t be making it into the film.

Johnson noted over on Instagram today, sharing a behind the scenes snippet…

Unfortunately the scene where I bite the bad guy’s eye out and spit it on the dirt didn’t make it. MPAA ratings board forbid us to show it because it was too violent. True story.

Presumably, Hobbs & Shaw will be released with a PG-13 rating attached to it, as all previous films in the Fast & Furious universe have arrived with that rating. Sigh.
