With films like May and The Woman under his belt, Lucky McKee is no doubt a fan favorite indie filmmaker in the horror world, and he returns next with the thriller Kindred Spirits, which will World Premiere at Chicago’s annual Cinepocalypse film festival this coming Sunday, June 16th (get tickets).
Thora Birch (Hocus Pocus, Ghost World) leads the cast of McKee’s latest, which also stars Macon Blair (Green Room) and Caitlin Stasey (Fear, Inc).
Birch plays Chloe, a single mother in a relationship with Alex (Blair). Chloe’s life is turned upside down when her sister, Sadie (Stasey) comes home after a long unexplained absence.
Though Sadie seems to want to settle in with her sister and 17-year-old niece (becoming quite a handful herself), she’s actually a deeply disturbed young woman who has a sinister agenda regarding anyone who gets between her and her big sister.
