Unearthed Storyboard Shows Cruel Fate for John Hammond That Never Made It Into ‘Jurassic Park’
Played by the late Richard Attenborough, John Hammond is perhaps the single most important character in the entire Jurassic Park/World franchise, as he was of course the creator of the original park. In Michael Crichton’s original novel, Hammond does not survive the events of the story, but Steven Spielberg’s film kept him alive to later appear in its sequel.
But the original plan for the film, like the novel, was for Hammond to be killed off; in the novel, he’s attacked and killed by a pack of Compys, and the film almost went that same route. Several other ideas were brought up, and at one point, the plan was for Hammond to be killed by a Velociraptor in the final act. This week, Jurassic Time has unearthed a storyboard depicting that cruel fate, part of a collection of storyboards the page’s owner had recently acquired.
Jurassic Time explains, “Hammond is in [the Visitor’s Center control room] alone, raptor breaks in and slams him on the model of his park, while also breaking an incubator of eggs that was part of an earlier version of the script. An earlier version that will someday be explored on this page, but not today. There is still a lot more to come on Jurassic Time.”
You can check out the storyboard below and be sure to follow Jurassic Time for more.

‘The Blair Witch Project’ Reboot from YouTube Filmmaker Expected in 2027
Found footage franchise The Blair Witch Project is coming back to life with a new movie, but when we can expect it? In a chat with Indiewire this week, producer Jason Blum teases that the new Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project movies are both planning 2027 releases.
Blum notes, “They’re both coming out next year. Blair Witch and Paranormal.”
As we’ve already reported, the new Paranormal Activity movie already has a date. From director Ian Tuason (Undertone), the new installment will release in theaters May 21, 2027.
This is the first we’re hearing about Blair Witch‘s 2027 plans. Stay tuned for more.
Dylan Clark (Portrait of God) is set to direct the new take on the seminal found footage horror movie, with the original movie’s filmmakers and cast on board to produce the project.
Original Blair Witch Project filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick, producer Gregg Hale, and stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams will executive produce.
Producer James Wan tells Indiewire this week, “Getting all the original people that were involved in the original Blair Witch, getting their blessing and getting them involved. That was very important for all of us. We wanted to pay respect to the legacy of it all.”
Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Atomic Monster‘s James Wan are producing the new Blair Witch Project with Roy Lee and Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks & Greg Gilreath.
According to Deadline, Blair Witch‘s return “will deal with a family that goes on a camping trip but goes missing one by one after they hear strange noises in the forest.”
Much like David F. Sandberg, Curry Barker, and Kane Parsons before him, Dylan Clark was discovered on YouTube after going viral with his horror short Portrait of God. That short is already being expanded into a feature, with Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi producing.
