Glenn Danzig’s Instant Cult ‘Verotika’ Screening in Los Angeles on June 25th

"Drukija Contessa of Blood"

The Music Box’s annual Cinepocalypse Film Festival comes to a close tonight after a wild week filled with monster premieres and many surprises. The biggest was the opening night World Premiere of Misfits/Danzig frontman Glenn Danzig‘s directorial debut, Verotika, a direct adaptation of his comic books that became the buzz of the film world when reviews dubbed it an instant cult classic that joins the ranks of best-worst-movies The Room and Birdemic. Our very own Patrick Bromley called it the “horror equivalent of The Room” in his review.

Danzig was on hand to introduce the film and for a post-screening Q+A. He didn’t seem to understand the laughter, yet his passion for the project was clearly unparalleled. He made his movie, his way, and was proud of it. If anything, Verotika is authentic – and that’s what separates this from wannabe bad movies like Sharknado. It’s a must-see film.

There was worry that Danzig would find a way to bury this disasterpiece. Thankfully, it sounds as if he’s come to terms with what he’s created. A special screening is set to take place in Los Angeles next Tuesday, June 25th. Tickets ARE STILL AVAILABLE, although it’s likely going to sell out. Do not hesitate. The screening takes place @8PM at the Cinelounge at the Montalban – Montalban.

ENJOY.
