Back in May, Sony released David Yarovesky’s Brightburn, a horror-superhero hybrid produced by a guy who knows a little something about both horror and superheroes, James Gunn. The film told the origin story of super-villain Brandon Breyer, and it pulled in over $30 million worldwide on a $6 million production budget. So does that mean we’re getting a sequel?
Replying to a fan’s comment on Instagram over the weekend, Gunn had this to say about a potential Brightburn 2:
“I think I’m tied up for the next few years with Suicide Squad and then Guardians, but we’re talking about the sequel.”
The final moments of Brightburn opened up the film’s world, teasing that Brandon isn’t the only super-person out there. Endless sequel potential here, to say the very least.
