8-Minute Behind the Scenes Video Shows the Making of a Brand New Chucky for This Year’s ‘Child’s Play’

Published

on

The Chucky we meet in Lars Klevberg’s Child’s Play is quite unlike the Chucky we know and love, and not only because he’s voiced by Mark Hamill rather than Brad Dourif. Instead of being inhabited by the soul of a serial killer, Chucky 2019 is instead a “smart toy” who’s been hacked to remove all possible limitations, turning him into a murderous maniac.

Todd Masters and his team over at MastersFX created the brand new Chucky for Orion’s remake, and a new video from the Stan Winston School takes you behind the scenes to show off their process. In total, the team created seven different animatronic puppets, all of which were puppeteered by rods, old school style, with radio controlled facial features.

Watch the video below to learn more and be sure to read the Stan Winston School’s in-depth article about the making of Chucky 2019 for a much deeper dive into the process.
