The James Wan-produced Mortal Kombat feature film is finally happening, for real this time, and today brings the very first bit of casting news. Reported by THR, Joe Taslim (The Raid, The Night Comes for Us) will be playing iconic fighter Sub-Zero in the New Line movie!
Simon McQuoid is directing the film for New Line/WB.
“Mortal Kombat is a bold cinematic adventure based on the blockbuster videogame franchise,” the movie’s initial press release hyped.
The fight will begin on March 5, 2021. Plot details are under wraps at this time.
The current screenplay was written by Greg Russo. Todd Garner produces alongside Wan, with Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins executive producing.
