Writer Damon Lindelof (Lost, World War Z, Prometheus) and his fellow The Leftovers collaborator Nick Cuse are set to bring audiences on The Hunt, a new politically charged action-thriller from director Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah, The Leftovers).
The cast includes Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, Betty Gilpin, Glenn Howerton, Jim Klock, Charli Slaughter and Dean West (The Highwaymen).
Deadline reports today that the film will also star two-time Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank, who also appeared in Dark Castle’s The Reaping and this year’s Netflix sci-fi thriller I Am Mother.
While details continue to be kept under wraps, Bloody Disgusting exclusively revealed that the film is about a bunch of working-class individuals being hunted down Battle Royale style. It was described to us as 1953’s The Most Dangerous Game meets Battle Royale with shades of Belko Experiment. Collider recently confirmed this by adding:
“The film follows a group of ‘rednecks’ who are captured and hunted for sport by rich, liberal elites.”
The film was scheduled to release on October 18, but Universal has bumped it up to September 27.
