Director André Øvredal‘s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is of course an adaptation of the books written by Alvin Schwartz, but the premise of the movie centers on a book written by a girl named Sarah Bellows, which unleashes monsters upon a small town. Sarah is played by actress Kathleen Pollard, and we get our first look at the character in this new TV spot.
Pollard, it’s interesting to note, had recently been Sally Hawkins’ stunt double for Guillermo del Toro‘s The Shape of Water. Del Toro, of course, was the producer of Scary Stories.

In this summer’s PG-13 adaptation…
A group of young teens must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.
“It’s 1968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. Daniel Hageman & Kevin Hageman and Guillermo del Toro wrote the script.
