There is so much to unpack here as Paramount Pictures went all-out with their Terminator: Dark Fate Comic-Con presence – and it’s all wildly good stuff. With the news that Edward Furlong is returning as John Connor, the hype train has left the station and we’re all on board. But if you needed more than that piece of monster news, I’ve got a handful of goodies for ya.
Firstly, Paramount has released a new featurette that’s jam-packed with incredible new footage. There’s all sorts of chaotic violence from Gabriel Luna‘s Terminator getting shot in the face to Mackenzie Davis in a full-blown war with machines that look like monsters. If there’s anything left to be desired, it would be some of the CGI, which I can guarantee is unfinished. We are a long ways from November and it’s surely going to look even better by the time it hits theaters.

Arnold Schwarzenegger goes off on the more recent sequels:
Then there was a reddit live AMA that took place a little over an hour ago where Luna dropped a huge spoiler (I’ll save that for last so you can read this awesome bit). During the conversation, a fan asked about the R-rating that was guaranteed and confirmed prior during the Hall H panel. Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s response was legendary.
“I am so delighted,” he injected. “I was sick and tired with the last time, when the studio decided to make it a PG-13 rating just because they thought there more dollars in there. I said, ‘Guys you’re so stupid…this is a story that is written and a franchise that is done and written for an R-rating and not Terminator the babysitter type of thing.
“That’s not Terminator, it’s cheating it’s greedy and trying to make more money,” he added with fierce passion. “You have to be organic about this stuff. This is going to be an R-rated movie. I wouldn’t be sitting here today if it weren’t.
“I was so angry about them trying to cut out the blood and gore. In this movie, we have the gore we have the blood – I’m not even going to talk about what I do in this movie – Gabriel literally cuts people to shreds. There’s blood, there’s gore, there’s guts, you can see the heart being ripped out.”
While the first three Terminator films were, in fact, R-rated, the previous two were PG-13. He makes the analogy about how the film is about a machine coming back in time to kill a human, not negotiate with them. If that doesn’t get you PUMPED for Dark Fate, I don’t know what will.

Gabriel Luna on his new Terminator, the REV-9:
Earlier this week I shared what would be the new Comic-Con poster and noticed something interesting about the design. The art features Luna’s REV-9 endoskeleton design. The endoskeleton looks like the Rorschach test, which by its nature, is two similar images splattered side-by-side.
Now, from the trailers, we already know that the liquid can slide off the REV-9, leaving the Terminator endoskeleton exposed and allowing two “machines” to attack. I kept thinking to myself, “This isn’t much different than the Terminator in the third film,” which turned Kristanna Loken into the T-X.
I speculated on how it could be an evolution of the machine: two Terminator endoskeletons. Luna revealed this in the reddit AMA confirming that the endoskeleton itself can split in two!
