Included with the announcement that Joker will have its North American Premiere at the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival were a trio of shots (one of them brand new) from the film showing three stages of Joaquin Phoenix‘s Arthur Fleck: frustrated, angry, and giddy, with the latter two as the title character.
Todd Phillips directed Joker with Robert De Niro, Deadpool 2‘s Zazie Beetz and “Glow” actor Marc Maron also starring.
Joker has been described as the “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”
We’ll see the birth of Joker when it hits theaters Oct. 4, 2019.
