[Trailer] ‘The Witch’ Director Robert Eggers is Back With A24’s Black & White Nightmare ‘The Lighthouse’

The Witch breakout Robert Eggers has re-teamed with leading genre production company A24 for The Lighthouse, a fantasy horror film that Eggers wrote and directed. The film, which stars Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson and was shot on 35mm black & white stock, recently premiered at Cannes, and critics (including our Serena Fischer) have been raving.

This is certainly a film that will stick around in people’s heads for a long, long time,” Serena wrote in her review for us out of Cannes, awarding the film 5/5 skulls.

A24 describes The Lighthouse as a hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.

You can check out the very first trailer below, which promises madcap insanity and incredible performances from Dafoe and Pattinson. And don’t worry about spoilers, as the footage is brief and mysterious. Here’s hoping A24 keeps it that way right up until the release!

The film, written by Robert Eggers & Max Eggers and also starring Valeriia Karaman, will be released on October 18, 2019 in NY & LA, with an expansion to follow.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
