When it was released back in 1994, Tammy and the T-Rex had a PG-13 rating attached to it, but what many didn’t know at the time was that it was originally conceived as a gory, rated “R” affair. For the first time ever, the newly unearthed “gore cut” of the film was recently screened at Cinepocalypse, and up next it’s headed to Blu-ray courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome!
Patrick Bromley raved in his review for us out of Cinepocalypse, “Heads are bitten off, people are disemboweled, skulls are crushed, bodies are flattened, all with the kind of gory excess that recalls the splatstick comedies of Peter Jackson rather than the realism of Tom Savini. It’s completely out of place in a film that really can’t support it, but has now become part of what makes Tammy and the T-Rex such an odd, singular experience.”
Vinegar Syndrome‘s new 4K restoration of the rated “R” version of the film is playing at Fantastic Fest, with the Blu-ray being released as part of their Black Friday sale in November.

In the Stewart Raffill-directed Tammy and the T-Rex, starring Denise Richards as Tammy and an animatronic dinosaur as, well, the T-Rex, “An evil scientist implants the brain of Michael, a murdered high school student, into an Tyrannosaurus. He escapes, wreaks vengeance on his high school tormentors and is reunited with his sweetheart Tammy.”
The late Paul Walker also starred in the sci-fi/comedy!
