Things Are About To Get ‘Hellarious’ On Blu-ray & VOD

Published

on

A brand new comedic horror anthology is headed our way: Hellarious! Freshly announced from the grave this very day, the film collects “seven of the most legendary horror comedy shorts ever made from some of the world’s best genre filmmakers“. Among all things, it’s subject matters boasts amateur Satanists, “reverse werewolves“, zombie spouses, and even psychotic lunch ladies.

“Hellarious is the perfect movie to celebrate the Halloween season,” said anthology creator Jason Tostevin. “There are scary stories, eww moments that will make you squirm, and even some weirdly sweet moments. And of course, they’re all absolutely hysterical.”

The segments included within this funnily frightful flick are: “Lunch Ladies” by Clarissa Jacobson & J.M. Logan, “Horrific” by Robert Boocheck (ABCs of Death 2), “Death Metal” by Chris McInroy, “Born Again” and “‘Til Death” by Tostevin & Randall Greenland, “Killer Kart” by James Feeney, and “Bitten” by Sarah K. Reimers.

Hellarious will hit VOD this November, courtesy of distributor FilmSpawn. You don’t have to wait that long to see it, however! Pre-orders are NOW AVAILABLE for a limited edition Blu-ray, with the discs set to ship out in a few weeks time.

“We’re so proud to help present this one-of-a-kind project,” said FilmSpawn founder Chris Ethridge. “These are iconic shorts people have been hearing they have to see, but couldn’t find. Now, for the first time ever, you can see them all in one place.”

I’m an absolute sucker for horror anthologies. Sometimes to my detriment, as they can often be a mixed bag. However, since I have already seen at least two of the segments contained within Hellarious, I already know that I’m in good hands with it.

If you pick up the Blu-ray, you will be treated to additional exclusive short: Clarissa Jacobson’s A Very Important Film. The filmmaker created it as a promotional video for Lunch Ladies, one that parodies self-important festival films. So for those of you out there who love physical media as much as I do, it’s an added benefit. Also, speaking of physical merchandise, if you love that cover at as much as I do, you can also purchase a t-shirt of it at the link above. I’m thinking of going for the Blu & shirt bundle myself.

Anna Faris & Regina Hall Promise ‘Scary Movie’ Will “Offend Everyone;” New Images Revealed

The Wayans are out to cancel the Cancel Culture with Scary Movie, and the cast assures it will do just that.

“They sort of have an across-the-board style,” Anna Faris tells EW. “It’s always been a part of the Wayans Brothers, their electricity. ‘Can we offend you? Will you still love us? Come on, you still love us, don’t you?'”

Regina Hall concurs, promising the “boundary-pushing” sixth installment in the horror parody franchise will “offend everyone.”

EW has shared a batch of behind-the-scenes images from Scary Movie, which hits theaters June 5 via Paramount.

Faris and Hall are joined by fellow franchise favorites Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, and Jon Abrahams in the legacy sequel.

The ensemble includes Damon Wayans Jr., Gregg Wayans, Kim Wayans, Benny Zielke, Cameron Scott Roberts, Heidi Gardner, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Kenan Thompson, and Felissa Rose.

Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directs from a script by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, original Scary Movie director Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans (Scary Movie 2), and Rick Alvarez (A Haunted House).

The film will slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and everyfinal chapterthat absolutely isn’t final.

Scary Movie launched in 2000, followed by Scary Movie 2 in 2001. The Wayans’ involvement ended there, but the series continued with 2003’s Scary Movie 3, 2006’s Scary Movie 4, and 2013’s Scary Movie 5.
