We first met John Rambo in First Blood back in 1982 and the character’s story is now coming to an end all these years later in Rambo: Last Blood, arriving in theaters this weekend. Where does the franchise go from here, you ask? Well, let’s be clear that Last Blood isn’t *guaranteed* to be Stallone’s last hurrah, but if it is, perhaps we could next be seeing a prequel?
Speaking with Screen Rant, Stallone revealed that’s something he always wanted to see.
“I always thought of Rambo when he was 16 or 17 – I hope they can do the prequel – he was the best person you could find,” Stallone told the site. “He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and the war is what changed him. If you saw him before, he was like the perfect guy.”
John Rambo is already a deadly Vietnam veteran when we’re introduced to him in First Blood, so there’s certainly a whole lot of backstory there that could be mined in prequels.
But for now, Last Blood is what we’ve got. Check it out in theaters starting tonight!
