According to The Wrap, Jason Bateman is in talks not only to join Ryan Reynolds in a new Clue movie but also to direct the film, based on the iconic board game from Hasbro.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, Deadpool) wrote the script for Fox/Disney. Bateman is fresh off of winning a Primetime Emmy for his work directing the series “Ozark.”
The game, first developed in 1949, is a contest to determine who of six suspects murdered the game’s victim, where the crime took place, and which weapon was used in the murder. Each player assumes the role of one of the six suspects, and attempts to deduce. It was of course turned into a movie back in 1985, directed by Jonathan Lynn and starring Tim Curry.
The Wrap notes that the new movie is not connected to the 1985 film.
Last we heard, it could potentially be a rated “R” movie.
