Filming Begins Next Month on ‘Tremors 7,’ Starring Michael Gross!

You can count me among the fans who have been having a whole lot of fun with the recent direct-to-video Tremors sequels, largely thanks to how entertaining Michael Gross continues to be as Graboid hunter Burt Gummer. And while it’s a bummer that the Kevin Bacon-led series never got off the ground, I’m just glad that the Gross-led one is still staying alive.

As we’ve recently reported, Gross will reprise the role of Burt Gummer in Tremors 7, and the actor confirmed on Facebook this week that the film will begin shooting in November!

Gross wrote on his Facebook page, “Thirty years ago, I was on location for the original Tremors film and, in a month’s time, will be in Thailand to begin filming Tremors 7. Three decades, and I am grateful to the many Official Tremors Franchise Fans for the fun ride.”

In the reportedly-titled Tremors: Island Fury:

“The deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.”

Brian Brightly wrote the screenplay with Universal Home Entertainment regular Don Michael Paul returning to direct. He previously got behind the camera for Tremors 5: Bloodlines and last year’s Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell, as well as several other Universal home video titles.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) is staying busy here in 2024, directing not only the werewolf movie Big Bad but also an upcoming thriller titled Drop.

The project for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes is being described as a “fast-paced thriller,” and Deadline reports today that Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) has joined the cast.

Newcomer Jacob Robinson has also signed on to star in the mysterious thriller. Previously announced, Meghann Fahy (“White Lotus”) will be leading the cast.

Landon recently teased on Twitter, “This is my love letter to DePalma.”

Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach wrote the script.

Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller and Cameron Fuller — “who brought the script in to Platinum Dunes” — are producing the upcoming Drop. Sam Lerner is an executive producer.

THR notes, “The film is a Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse production for Universal.”
