With three installments and a fourth one on the way, the John Wick franchise has only been getting more and more popular as the years go on, so it’s only natural that the franchise is aiming to become a full-on cinematic universe. The best part? It’s hardly a forced idea, as the franchise is absolutely *loaded* with compelling mythology that’s ripe for expansion.
On that note, Deadline reports today that Len Wiseman (Underworld, “Swamp Thing”) will be directing the Wick franchise’s first spinoff film for Lionsgate, the female-led Ballerina.
“Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.”
Revealed in Chapter 3, Anjelica Huston’s character the Director trains ballerinas in the same facility where Wick was trained to be an assassin, so the groundwork has already been laid.
