We’re just a week away from Terminator: Dark Fate (opening Halloween night), the Tim Miller-directed sequel to James Cameron‘s Terminator: Judgment Day that retcons all sequels and brings the action to the day after the apocalypse.
Paramount continues to share extended footage from the trailer with this early sequence in the film in which the new REV-9 terminator (Gabriel Luna) is in pursuit of Grace (Mackenzie Davis) and Dani (Natalia Reyes), the latter of which is being protected in order to “save the future”. The footage continues in this previously released clip where Linda Hamilton‘s Sarah Connor, guns blazing, comes to the rescue.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t also note that the CGI (thankfully) looks a lot more complete here…
Getting a little extra on brand here, the NBA returns tonight and the very first promo is a tie-in with Paramount’s Terminator: Dark Fate.
While these are usually cheesy, stupid and not remotely relevant, the timing for this couldn’t have been any better. For those who aren’t sports fans, Kawhi Leonard led the Toronto Raptors to their first ever championship this past June. Battling through injuries and showing zero signs of emotion, he earned the nickname “The Terminator”.
With the film opening next week and the NBA kicking off tonight, the promo shows Arnold Schwarzenegger working out and running into Leonard, now of the Los Angeles Clippers. He says, “It’s great to see another Terminator,” to which a humble Leonard exclaims, “I don’t know why they call me that.” They run into Linda Hamilton who throws a bit of banter at Leonard and his unusual laugh before throwing a warning his way.
While this is all fun and games, we all know the truth… Leonard is actually a Terminator.
